Placencia LobsterFest - June 26th-28th

Placencia holds its own LobsterFest, which often is held the same weekend as Caye Caulker. This festival is judged by some to be better than either the San Pedro or Caye Caulker LobsterFest.

About Placencia

Placencia, once a sleepy fishing village, has become as a popular destination on the Caribbean. It is located in the Stann Creek District in the southeast part of Belize can be reached by land by driving the Southern Highway. Placencia Village located at its southern-most tip of the 18-mile long narrow stretch of land. The peninsula is positioned between the Caribbean Sea on the east and the Placencia Lagoon on the west and is only a mile at its widest point. The Stann Creek District offers outdoor activities of all kinds: deep sea fishing, snorkeling, diving, kayaking, and hiking. According to Wikipedia, “the village is home to 1,512 permanent residents according to the 2010 census, while the Placencia Peninsula is home to 3,458 permanent residents, which includes citizens and ex-pats alike”.
